Cubic Confusion is a 2.5D puzzle-platformer. Trapped in a complex industrial prison where every area is a cube, you must solve environmental puzzles to break free.

I handled the game concept, level design and the 3C, defining how the player moves, what they can do, and how the camera frames every puzzle.

Game Concept
Defined the game concept, setting, core mechanics and design direction, establishing the foundations the rest of the team built on.
Level Design
Designed the puzzle levels, layout, cube interactions and difficulty progression, sequencing challenges to teach the mechanic naturally through play.
3C Design
Defined the character controls, movement feel and camera behaviour, ensuring the player always had the spatial clarity they needed to solve puzzles.
  • 2.5D perspective creates depth ambiguity, every puzzle layout was validated from the exact in-game camera angle to ensure spatial relationships read correctly before a single asset was placed.
  • The cube as both prison and tool was the concept's central idea: the environment that traps you is also what you use to escape. Every mechanic introduced had to serve that duality.
  • 3C for a puzzle game prioritises precision and readability over speed, the player needs to feel exactly in control of where they are in space, which meant testing movement on every type of surface and corner geometry early.
